Drop-in synthetic aviation fuel, built for real-world flight

Overview

A direct pathway to
drop-in SAF

AIRMADE® SAF is AIRCO’s synthetic aviation fuel pathway, built on its proprietary AIRMADE power-to-liquids technology.

The process converts carbon dioxide and low-carbon hydrogen into a fully drop-in aviation fuel designed to meet existing ASTM jet fuel specifications. AIRCO develops and licenses the AIRMADE® SAF pathway, enabling partners to produce SAF at industrial scale within existing production facilities.

Overview

Drop-in ready. Built for today’s ASTM pathways.

AIRMADE® SAF is a power-to-liquids process that converts carbon dioxide and electricity into a fuel compositionally equivalent to the aviation fuel used today.

01

Carbon captured

CO₂ is sourced from biogenic or point-source emissions, with direct air capture as a future option

02

Clean hydrogen

Hydrogen is produced via water electrolysis using low-carbon electricity

03

Catalytic

AIRCO's catalytic process converts these inputs directly into finished synthetic jet fuel meeting current ASTM requirements

Impact

A practical path to lower-carbon aviation

Aviation accounts for roughly 3% of global CO₂ emissions, with demand expected to continue rising.

Sustainable aviation fuel represents the most immediate, scalable way to reduce emissions without waiting for new aircraft, fleets, or infrastructure.

AIRMADE® SAF delivers:

Low-Carbon

>90% lifecycle greenhouse gas reduction

Cost-Efficient

Lower expected capex and opex than conventional e-fuel pathway

Scalable

A scalable, non-biogenic alternative to bio-based SAF

Progress

Commercial readiness

AIRCO has built and operated an AIRMADE Fuel Demonstration Plant for more than 1,500 continuous hours.

The facility validates the full AIRMADE® SAF pathway under sustained operating conditions, including process control, stability, and fuel output.

Validation

Validated by industry. Proven in flight.

Backed by leading airlines and fuel partners, including Virgin Atlantic, JetBlue, Air Canada, Air France–KLM, Alaska Airlines, and Avfuel.

AIRMADE® SAF has also been demonstrated with the U.S. Department of War, including the first unmanned flight powered by 100% CO₂-derived synthetic jet fuel through Project FIERCE.
